After documenting hundreds of weddings over the past decade, it becomes rare to find a place and a couple that feels entirely new. A Lune 1860 wedding venue in Goderich offered exactly that: a sense of discovery, paired with a story that quietly stayed with us long after the day ended.
Julie and Dave’s wedding is one we continue to return to, not only for its visual beauty, but for the depth of connection we witnessed. From our very first meeting, there was a familiarity—something unspoken yet instantly understood. Their vision of love, partnership, and building a life together mirrored something deeply human and universal. It was impossible not to feel it. Sometimes, the journey from “hello” to “I love you” is shorter than expected. And sometimes, that’s because when you know—you simply know.
Their wedding day unfolded with a kind of intimacy that doesn’t demand attention. It wasn’t loud or extravagant. Instead, it was soft, intentional, and deeply personal—the kind of love that surrounds you gently and stay long after you leave. A Lune 1860 wedding venue naturally lends itself to this atmosphere.
From the moment you step through Lune 1860 gates, there is an immediate sense of artistry. The space reflects a careful balance of light, texture, and design—everything works together without feeling forced. The venue feels mature, artistic and intimate.
Getting Ready
Julie and Dave get ready separately at a nearby Airbnb before arriving at the venue. Julie stepped into her dress in the bridal suite, assisted by her sister in a moment that felt both intimate and grounding. As the ceremony approached, there was a quiet shift—anticipation building, emotions rising, everything slowing just enough to be fully felt.
The Ceremony- The Garden Terrace
The ceremony took place on The Garden Terrace, one of the most distinctive features of a Lune 1860 wedding. With its European-inspired aesthetic and natural shade, the space creates an atmosphere that feels both elegant and effortlessly intimate. Dave saw Julia for the first time as she walked down the aisle—a moment suspended in stillness. The soft light, filtered through surrounding greenery, added to the sense that time had briefly paused.
Following the ceremony, we moved into The Light Room for family portraits. True to its name, the space is bright, minimal, and ideal for capturing clean, timeless images.
Portraits Across the Space
With approximately 1.5 hours dedicated to portraits, we approached the venue as a series of visual chapters. A Lune 1860 wedding venue is not a single backdrop—it’s a collection of distinct environments, each offering its own mood and narrative. We began outdoors, where early fall colours had just started to change. The light was soft and directional, perfect for the first moments of Julia and Dave’s portrait session. We let the moments be so they both could enjoy the time together and soak in the ceremony that just happened.
From there, we moved indoors—moving through the hallway, The Dark Room, and The Kitchen. Each space introduced a different tone: from airy and luminous to rich and cinematic. We intentionally saved the Dark Room for later in the afternoon, allowing the low sun to get through its large windows, creating depth and contrast that defined some of our favourite images from the day.
Even with careful planning, it felt as though we only scratched the surface. That is the nature of a Lune 1860 wedding—the creative possibilities are endless.
Reception at The Loft
Dinner was held in The Loft, an architectural space that feels both artistic and inviting. Its shape, paired with expansive windows, allows natural light to remain present even as the day begins to transition into evening. With perfect weather on their side, the large field doors were opened, blending indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly. Guests moved freely, enjoying the warmth of the setting sun.
Sunset & Celebration
We stepped away briefly for sunset photos—and the timing couldn’t have been better. Clear skies, soft light, and open space created the kind of conditions you hope for but can’t plan. The night ended with a champagne toast, marking the start of Julie and Dave’s next chapter. It felt simple, honest and completely true to them.
